Inside info . . on Stella Yorks 2018 collection!
When we think of hosting a designer weekend, the phrase 'Kid in a Sweet Shop' definitely springs to mind! It doesn't get much better than playing dress up all weekend with a whole bunch of brand new gorgeous gowns . . . the only problem is, we love them so much we don't want to let them go again!
From Friday 23rd June to Sunday 25th June, Songbird will be filled to the rafters with dresses from the Stella York 2018 collection. This really is quite a special opportunity for brides looking for something different, as many of the styles available at the event haven't even been released yet! Oh and whats more, they are all offered with a 10% discount!
So as we prepare to play host, we spoke to the gorgeous and always glamourous, Jenifer Eadie from Stella York, about the new collection and what brides can expect:
Jen, you get to see and work with the collection before anyone else in the UK! What can our girls expect to see from the 2018 collection?
This collection sees a lot of soft fabrics like crepe, tulle and chiffon mixed with soft lace and beautiful beadwork. Many have details such as high illusion or lace necklines and subtle sheer details through the back or sides for a more modern edge with just a hint of sexy!
Stella York gowns are always right on point when it comes to emerging trends, what we can expect to be popular with our 2018/2019 brides?
Necklines are all important right now, and there is a real variety! From boat neck, off-the-shoulder, and racer front lacy necklines, to plunging V-necks, and the ever-flattering strapless!
I know its hard to choose, but which would you say is your personal favourite from the collection?
Style 6500 is one of my favourites - the combination of traditional lace with modern sheer cutouts through the back and sides and that gorgeous boat neck!!
You are involved with testing the dresses before the collections are released and over the years have attended many events like the one we are hosting . . . do you have any top tips for our brides who've booked appointments at the designer weekend?
Yes! These gowns are brand new and only in store for a limited time, so brides have a real opportunity to buy their gown ahead of the rest! With this in mind, it's important to bring with you those few key people who's opinion you value so that you can say "yes" to the dress!!
So there you have it, you are in for a treat with the dresses ladies and they'll be a few treats at the boutique over the weekend too! As Songbird are the sole stockist of Stella York gowns in Cumbria, this is an exclusive event and appointments are filling up fast so please book yours in advance!

London Calling the Lakes!
So, we just got back from a fast paced but fabulous weekend at London Bridal Show. As usual, the dresses were amazing and we have so many new things to show you, but the train journey home got me thinking about a little memory I wanted to share with you . . .
Just before we opened Songbird, I remember meeting up with the girls for a cuppa. They were super excited about the boutique opening so I told them all about the kind of dresses we were going to stock and about how we met up with designers in London. At that, one of the girls let out a gasp "London, how amazing! I mean, travelling to the nations capital on buisness! You're living the dream Rach!" She seemed so proud.
I recall that memory whenever we travel to London and it still melts my heart a little. It was such a big deal for Lindsey and it's still a big deal for me. Being able to bring a slice of big city life back upto the Lake District is exactly what I wanted to achieve with Songbird and is one of the reasons I love my job so much.
From the start, the vision was to bring a totally different bridal style to Cumbria. I wanted our collection to be unique and fashion forward, offering the kinds of gowns that us northern girls swooned over in magazines but didn't have a hope in hells chance of getting our hands on locally. I wanted to offer my brides styles which broke away from tradition and allowed the brides personality to shine through, allowing her to feel like the most beautiful version of herself on her wedding day.
There's no better feeling than having a bride walk into the boutique, look around, take in the surroundings and say 'This is sooo me!' . . . and the biggest surprise of all, we regularly have brides travel from Newcastle, Manchester and wait for it . . . LONDON! who cant wait to join our growing Songbird Flock xx
